The Real Dolos

In Greek mythology, Dolos was the spirit of trickery and guile — apprentice to the Titan Prometheus himself.

According to an old fable, Prometheus once sculpted a statue of Aletheia, the goddess of Truth, to guide human behavior. Called away mid-work, he left Dolos in charge of the workshop. Fired by ambition, Dolos secretly built an identical twin — matching Truth in every detail, until he ran out of clay for her feet.

When Prometheus returned and brought both statues to life, Truth walked forward on her own two feet. Her counterpart — Pseudologos, "Falsehood" — could never take a single step.

Every hand of Dolos' Bid puts that old lesson back on the table: a bluff can carry you for a while. Eventually, you're standing on nothing.

"Every once in a while something that is false can start off successfully — but with time, Truth is sure to prevail."

Aesop, Fables — 6th Century BC

Ten numbers. One game. Countless do-overs.

Every round, a ridiculous Premise goes up for auction. You bid with a hand of number cards — but each number can only be used once per game. Can you remember if the person across from you has played their strong cards or are they drawing yours out?

Premise Card

From "Always getting a shopping cart with four working wheels" to "Instantly knowing if someone's lying to you" — these cards are the target, and you're bidding real numbers on fake stakes.

Permanent Bids

Once a number's played, it's gone — even if you lose the round. Every bid is a small, irreversible confession of how much you value the premise or if you're trying to throw off your opponent.

Pure Psychology

No hidden roles, no dice. Just you, your dwindling hand, and everyone else's poker face.

Three steps. Every round.

The game ends when every player has used all 10 of their Bid Cards.

1

Reveal

The active Revealer flips the top Premise Card and reads it aloud — the sillier, the better.

2

Bid

Every player — including the Revealer — secretly places one Bid Card face-down. Reveal simultaneously with the group.

3

Resolve

Highest number wins the Premise card. Tie? Nobody wins it — the Premise goes unclaimed and is discarded along with the Bids. Every card played that round is spent for good, win, lose, or tie.

Pick your flavor of chaos.

01 Classic

Points Mode

Total the points of your won Premise cards. Highest total points win. Ties are settled by pitching your case to the table why your Premise cards are the best.

02 Recommended

Jury Mode

Ignore the Premise card point values entirely. Pitch why your won Premise cards are the best in the group, and everyone votes. Fully subjective voting from the group.

03 4 Players

Team Mode

Play in a silent partnership. Once the Premise card is revealed, No pre-bid communication allowed — just trust your teammate's instincts and total the points at the end.
